About
Haejin Cha is a mixed media artist based in Orange County, CA. Raised in Seoul, Korea, Haejin came from a family of artists and began drawing and painting at seven years old. Haejin formally began her career as an artist at The Academy of Art in Seoul and later immigrated to the United States for her BFA at The American Academy of Art in Chicago. Through years of experimentation across various media, Haejin found her voice through oil paints, which is the medium she predominately works in today.
Much of Haejin’s art is inspired by her Southern California scenic surroundings and Korean heritage. She views her paintings as a way to channel her robust imagination and is drawn to using bold colors in a layered aesthetic. Whether it’s focusing on traditional oil painting or experimenting with layers of Korean rice paper, Haejin looks for ways to play with texture, ultimately making her paintings a mirror to her western and eastern influences.
Haejin’s work has shown at several galleries and juried competitions including Showcase Gallery, Patricia E. Lum Gallery and Tony Izzo Gallery, and her works can be found in private collections across the country. Haejin is also a practicing art teacher to students young and wise in the Southern California area.
